The Werewolf

The angry mob stormed the street,

With burning torches and stomping feet.

They chased the beast through the town,

Even in buildings, upstairs and down.

He led them on a merry chase,

Never slowing his steady pace.

They finally caught him in the town square,

They saw his body was covered in hair.

The full moon shone down on them all,

They were scared but they could not stall.

They had to kill this fearsome foe,

Before he caused even more woe.

The werewolf howled and snarled at each one,

The leader of the mob drew his gun.

This gun contained a secret or two,

For, when it fired, a silver flash flew.

The silver bullet hit its mark,

And the wolf’s yellow eyes turned dark.

The mob broke up, nothing more to do,

The town now safe for me and you.

The Haunted House

When the children gathered ‘round the fire,

Stories were told that were quite dire.

About the house that stood on the hill,

Shrouded in fog and October chill.

A full moon completed the scene,

Scaring kids, tempting teens.

This night, above all, they drew near,

To prove that they held no fear.

The boldest among them charged ahead,

Ignoring any thoughts of dread.

Across the porch and through the door,

What they saw chilled them to their core.

A ghostly scene of past crimes,

They’d heard the stories a million times.

A simple step into that room,

And they felt impending doom.

They turned and ran from that place,

Fearful terror on every face.

Once more, that house up on the hill,

Caused many a Halloween chill.

The Last Leaf

I’m not sure why every leaf must die,

vibrant green life turns brown and dry.

The first sign is the air turns cold,

Autumn turns the leaves red and gold.

Then Winter’s chill hits the air,

the biting wind doesn’t care.

The last leaf hits the snowy ground,

no more green can be found.

Why this happens, I just don’t know,

but the fallen leaves are buried under snow.

Whatever the reason is for this thing,

the leaves will return in the Spring.

Here in New England

The frost crackled under my feet,

What a change from summer’s heat.

The leaves are falling from the trees,

Drifting slowly on autumn’s breeze.

Winter’s chill will soon be here,

Bringing snow and Christmas cheer.

Next comes spring and the rain,

Washing away the cold, icy pain.

Summer comes back once again,

Like a favorite, lifelong friend.

Round and round the seasons go,

Here in New England they put on a show.

Fun-filled Day

The beach is a place I go,

Summertime or in the snow.

In the morning to watch the sun,

Rise in the east and then I run.

I love to run along the beach,

Headphones on, mind out of reach.

Music blaring load in my ears,

It drowns away my tears and fears.

To the lighthouse and back I go,

This is a path that I know.

I will be tired when I reach the end,

And that is what I need, my friend.

My body tired, my mind relaxed,

My tension is no longer maxed.

I jump the fence, home I go,

Smiling now but moving slow.

Showered, dressed, feeling cool,

I get ready to go to school.

Ready to go, I’m on my way,

Starting another fun-filled day.

Corn Maze Kiss

My first date with this guy,

A nervous wreck, I am so shy.

Lost in his eyes and the maze,

My first kiss, I was amazed.

His lips lit my soul on fire,

My pulse raced higher and higher.

We heard voices and had to part,

The end for now, but just the start.

The Mask

When the dead rise to walk the land,

Some will think it a sign, so grand.

But I am here to say to you,

Think a moment before you say it’s true.

What if the dead had never died?

What if they laughed at the tears you cried?

What if they were always one big fake,

Causing drama for attention’s sake?

Four faces but just one mask,

One evil man, one evil task.

Someday soon the mask will fall,

And he’ll be known by one and all.

Our Love Will Never End

You have been taken from my sight.

I know you are within the light.

I miss you each and every day.

And that may never go away.

Our love was so strong and true,

but fate was far too unkind to you.

You had to go but said you’d return.

For you only, my heart did burn.

Silence descended on me from you.

Each day that passed, I became so blue.

My tears flowed all day long.

Within my heart there was no song.

Then news of your death came to me.

I lost my heart and sanity.

That you are now at peace is what I pray,

and that I will see you again someday.

Though now my heart can begin to mend,

I know our love will never end.
