Do Not Explore

Dear future humans, let me implore.

Do not go to space, do not explore.

The galaxy is full of humanoid aliens, that’s true.

But they are simply not like me or like you.

After years of abductions, they discarded their plan.

The invasion was canceled, they had no interest in man.

That did not mean they’d let Earth knock on their door.

So, let me repeat, stay home. Do not explore.

Winter’s End

The Spring Solstice can now be seen.

The snow filled fields are turning green.

You put yuletide thoughts in the past,

As your igloo snow fort is melting fast.

Then the evergreen way up on the hill,

Begins to sway in one last arctic chill.

Spring will come, Winter’s end is near.

Cuddle at the fireside with one you hold dear.

The Leprechaun

The leprechaun with hair of red,

Will guard his gold until he’s dead.

But if you can find his pot of gold,

You’ll get three wishes and wealth untold.

So, if you see a bright rainbow,

Look at its end for a golden glow.

That’s where the treasure can be found.

And the leprechaun dancing all around.

Make your wishes but be nice.

This is my greatest advice.

For the leprechaun can be mean.

And make your day an ugly scene.

So, make your wishes, then set him free.

And he’ll make you as happy as can be.

Me and You

My heart would break if I lost you,

What once was bright would turn blue.

We talk and talk for hours each day,

You shine a light when my mood is grey.

We’ve never been in the same place,

Yet you’ve brought many smiles to my face.

Bestie, brother, choose one or two,

I need you here, forever me and you.

Migraines

The sunlight filtered into my room.

Pain exploded like a boom.

This damn headache won’t go away.

It’s been with me all through the day.

I close the blinds, lay back in bed,

Trying to soothe my aching head.

The darkness helps to ease the pain,

So, I try to shut down my brain.

As I drift off to sleep, I pray,

That this headache will go away.

The King

Screams of terror filled the air,

chaos reigned at the county fair.

Dragon fire burned each place,

even many a helpless face.

The dragon rampaged through the town,

knocking every building down.

The people tried their best to flee,

but many never ever got free.

Then one boy stood to fight,

he did not fear the dragon’s might.

The boy looked, and he finally found,

a bow and arrows upon the ground.

He picked up the bow, dropped to one knee,

pulled back an arrow and let it fly free.

The arrow flew just like a dart,

and struck the dragon in the heart.

The dragon fell right to the ground,

never making another sound.

The townspeople could now return,

and try to save what did not burn.

The town, once small, now grew and grew,

becoming a town that everyone knew.

Though the boy did not seek fame,

a king is what he soon became.

The Sun

The golden effulgence of the sun,

begins its rise as I run.

Dappled shadows beneath my feet,

is much cooler than noonday heat.

The sun at its zenith, it’s time for the beach,

soaking up the radiance, my mind out of reach.

The joy of the summer solstice frees my mind,

and lets my stressed-out body slowly unwind.
