Sad No More

He sat alone, so very sad,

One friend and he’d be glad.

He held back tears, refusing to cry,

He just wished that he knew why.

Why did they hate him so?

Their reasons, he didn’t know.

He used to be their true friend,

Why oh why did it simply end?

He hated to be always alone,

Sitting with just his phone.

He heard a sound, looked in surprise,

And saw a pair of beautiful eyes.

The eyes, a dark chocolate brown,

Belonged to a boy who did not frown.

The new boy sat down in a chair,

And began talking, without a care.

A smile crossed the first boy’s face,

And his lonely heart began to race.

Maybe this boy could be the one,

To turn his sad days into fun.

The lunch bell rang, he turned to go,

Newfound happiness starting to show.

Summer Rain

Clouds darken the summer sky,

hiding the sun from my eye.

I gather up what I can reach,

hurrying to get off the beach.

I know the rain is almost here,

the thunder sounds all to near.

Up on my feet and off I go,

but I am still much too slow.

The sky opens, the rain pours down.

If I look up, I just might drown.

I race off the beach and to my car,

thankfully, it’s not too far.

Sudden rain ruined my day,

but it is not here to stay.

Another day will soon be here,

the sun will shine, the sky so clear.

On that day, I guarantee,

On the beach is where I’ll be.

New Home

You’re finally free of that rat-filled apartment,

which was scarcely more than a low rent tenement.

A slow walk through the local village,

and you reach your new bought cottage.

A home, not a house, a thought filled with pride,

as you slowly step inside.

A tasty aroma in the air, and warmth from the glowing fire,

you know it’ll be a night filled with love and desire.

Home and hearth can bring you joy,

snuggled fireside with your favorite boy.

Death

Death can come all too quick,

You don’t have to be hurt or sick.

It takes the young or the old,

Whether you be shy or bold.

You can hide your whole life through,

But death will still find you.

My advice to you is simply this,

If you have a chance at fun, don’t miss.

Enjoy your life every day,

Don’t you hide yourself away.

Death doesn’t care how fast you run,

So, stop a while and have some fun!

The Bully

The bully made an angry sound,

Looking at the boy on the ground.

The boy stood up and faced his foe,

With blackened eye and a broken toe.

The bully began talking trash,

About the bones that he would smash.

The boy tried to use his brain,

To make the bully stop causing pain.

The bully, again, swung his fist,

The boy ducked, the bully missed.

The boy looked at the bully and said,

Why can’t you just use your head?

Every day you fight with us,

Even when we don’t cause a fuss.

Someday the tide will turn,

Before that time, you better learn.

You’ll get farther with your brain,

Than by causing so much pain.

The bully didn’t know what to say,

So, he punched the boy and stormed away.

The boy shook his head and rubbed his jaw,

Not believing what he saw.

The bully returned, reached out his hand,

Helping the boy to once more stand.

Tears streaked the bully’s face,

As he began to quickly pace.

The bully began talking fast,

In fear that his courage wouldn’t last.

I don’t want to fight with you,

But it is all I know to do.

You may think this very strange,

But I truly want to change.

Will you please be my friend?

And help my evil ways to end?

The boy grinned and said he would.

Glad this day turned out good.

The Train Ride

The train whistle blows all night long,

Singing such a sad and lonely song.

I ride the rails here and there.

I think I’ve been everywhere.

Most days I travel all alone,

then a message appeared on my phone.

“I’m on the train, the one that you

said you ride. Car twenty-two.”

I read the message, then read it again,

it was my favorite internet friend.

I walked up to him, squealed in delight,

then I hugged him, oh so tight.

He has curly hair and steel grey eyes,

and a smile that can mesmerize.

We talked all night and into the day,

I ask him how long that he will stay.

He said with sadness, “Alas, I cannot.

I can’t stay for long in this spot.

There is another I’m looking to meet,

someone else I’m looking to greet.”

With that, I knew where his journey would end,

and I wished good luck to my internet friend.

Cold May

Dark clouds gathered in the sky,

Raindrops splashed down in my eye.

A cold wind blows in though it’s May,

Sending us inside for another day.

Why can’t summer be here,

I wish it would last all year.

Some like the changing seasons,

But I don’t like the listed reasons.

Winter sports are not for me,

I do not want to skate or ski.

I prefer the summer sun,

Swimming, tanning or a run.

The cold May clouds finally part,

I guess we’ll take that for a start.

Casino Plans

What do you do at the casino?

Do you play slots or maybe Bingo?

Is poker your fun or is it craps?

Or just a hotel room for your naps?

Keno and blackjack, then fine dining.

But please, if you lose, no incessant whining!

The main thing is to have some fun.

And when you leave, let’s hope you’ve won!

The Love of a Mother

I love my mom, this I know.

Her love for me is greater though.

As a kid, I’d laugh and play,

Having fun all through the day.

Then one day I broke a bone,

On her face, teardrops shone.

Near my bed, in a chair,

I opened my eyes and saw her there.

She held my hand and wiped my face,

She prayed for the pain to erase.

I’m more grown now and I know,

A mother’s love is more than show.

Even though I said one day,

I told my mom that I was gay.

My mom turned and said to me,

She didn’t care what I may be.

She said that I am still her son,

And any who hurt me better run.

She’ll protect me wrong or right,

For me, a bear she would fight.

I try my best to be good, not bad.

I want my mom to be always glad.

Call her mom, protector, or friend,

A mother’s love will never end.
