The Moment

One moment in time did change my life,

What once was peace, now is strife.

Am I alive or am I dead?

Why do these drums beat in my head?

My mom and bro are by my side,

Telling me about my wild ride.

I did just escape from death,

For a time, I held no breath.

A bright light did guide my way,

But my Gran said I could not stay.

There was more for me down here,

And there was nothing for me to fear.

She said I would not die,

And that I should not cry.

I would return to her someday,

But that day was far away.

For now, I must return below,

Where I could learn and grow.

I know now that it is true,

The world is bigger than me and you.

From that moment, I live each day,

Knowing it could all go away.

Live each moment like it’s your last,

Enjoy your life and have a blast.

My Sister

For a brother, a sister can be,

A blessing and a curse you see.

A sister picks on you, that’s true,

But she’ll always be there for you.

Growing up we’d fight and play,

Annoying each other all day.

But anytime I’d fall in the dirt,

She’d check to see if I’d been hurt.

There have been times we’d barely talk,

When one came in, the other would walk.

Then one day I got sick,

By my side, my sis would stick.

Day and night, she was there,

Showing me that she did care.

My sister has turned eighteen years,

She’ll leave soon amidst many tears.

California is where she’ll go,

College life is what she’ll know.

I will miss her very much,

I hope we always keep in touch.

Whether times are good or something’s amiss,

With all my heart, I love you, Sis.

Bond of Brothers

A brother can be good or bad,

Having two can drive you mad.

But I would never say,

That I want them to go away.

Fun and games all day long,

Banding together if things go wrong.

That is what brothers do,

I can surely say that’s true.

I won’t say we never fight,

But the brother bond is very tight.

We can fight with each other,

But don’t you dare touch my brother.

As days and months turn into years,

And we leave behind childhood fears.

When toys are gone, and life is the game,

Our brother bond will be the same.

Daniel, My Brother

I love you more than you’ll ever know,

And it hurts me when you’re feeling low.

You’re the best friend that I’ve ever had,

And I never want to see you sad.

More than a friend, you are my brother,

I’ll fix your mood with a smother.

I’ll give you a hug and kiss on the cheek,

And lend you my strength when you feel weak.

I hope we stay together all through the years,

To help each other past all of our fears.

Daniel, my brother, I love you,

With all my heart, this is true.

Brothers

Hanging out with my brother

Is great fun like no other.

Not just one, I have two,

triple the fun for me and you.

Sports, cards, or a video game.

Fun will be had, all the same.

We may fight but we unite,

our brother bond is that tight.

If you try to mess with me,

you must always mess with three.

I do love my mom and dad,

and having sisters makes me glad.

But this I have to say,

whether we fight or if we play,

if we’re home or at the school,

acting normal or like a fool,

if trouble comes and times seem black,

a brother will always have your back!

In the end, there is no other,

like the love of a brother.

The Sound of Silence

Silence makes an eerie sound,

When you’re alone, no one around.

Your house is normally full of noise,

Barking dogs and rowdy boys.

But this night, it’s just you,

Sitting in silence, nothing to do.

You could watch the tv,

Or listen to music on MP3.

But for now you just sit,

And rest your tired brain a bit.

Far too soon they will be here,

Charging in with whoops and cheers.

So, you enjoy the silence while you can,

Who knows when it’ll come again.

The silence disappears as your brothers arrive,

The house, again, a buzzing hive.
