Friendship

When friendships wane,

It can cause great pain.

You may not even know why,

But you think of them and cry.

Just living life may create the rift,

That made your friendship start to drift.

But I choose to hold on tight,

I won’t give up without a fight.

To me, my friends are very dear,

Whether they come from far or near.

If I label you as my friend,

Expect me to stick by you until the end.

I love each of you with all my heart,

And I never want our paths to part.

The Sound of Silence

Silence makes an eerie sound,

When you’re alone, no one around.

Your house is normally full of noise,

Barking dogs and rowdy boys.

But this night, it’s just you,

Sitting in silence, nothing to do.

You could watch the tv,

Or listen to music on MP3.

But for now you just sit,

And rest your tired brain a bit.

Far too soon they will be here,

Charging in with whoops and cheers.

So, you enjoy the silence while you can,

Who knows when it’ll come again.

The silence disappears as your brothers arrive,

The house, again, a buzzing hive.

My Poetry

My poems are not all about me.

Not an autobiography.

I sometimes make a simple choice

To write in a different voice.

I can’t just write about me.

That would be boring as can be.

The voice is sometimes my own,

Bits of my life being shown.

But most is just poetry,

And voices that I’d like to be.

All in all, the art is mine,

And I hope you think that’s fine.

Lazy Sunday

Lazy Sundays are the best,

better than all the rest.

Saturday is made for fun,

games and sports for everyone.

But when Sunday comes around,

on the couch is where I’m found.

Video games or a tv show,

snacks will be had, this I know.

I’ll try not to dwell on evil Monday,

while I enjoy my lazy Sunday.

Gargoyles

Gargoyle skin is made of stone,

Covering up their sinew and bone.

All through the day, they make not a sound,

When darkness falls, they leap to the ground.

Gargoyles may play a trick or cause a fight,

But some just dance in the bright moonlight.

If you’re out at night and you see,

Gargoyles everywhere, running free.

Don’t you dare stop and stare,

They can kill you with just a glare.

As fast as you can, run away,

You won’t be safe until the light of day.

All through the night, they are sinew and bone,

But in the light, gargoyles are just stone.

Fake Friends

Your fake smile holds no joy,

such a mean and nasty boy.

You call us the best of friends,

but the bullying just never ends.

As a friend you’re just bad.

Talking to you makes me mad.

Friends should comfort you when you cry.

They do not ridicule your reasons why.

We’ve been friends for many a year,

but you’ve seldom brought me cheer.

So, the time has come for me to say,

my former friend, please go away.

Right From the Start

Time slowed down to a stop,

My body felt like it might pop.

His weight against me felt just right,

And I wondered if this was the night.

His hot breath against my cheek,

Made me melt and feel weak.

Our bodies entwined, two became one,

The only light from the setting sun.

We heard a noise from behind the wall,

His roommate’s footsteps down the hall.

A frustrated sigh, a silent hiss,

As we shared one last kiss.

For right now, we must part,

Though, soon we will restart.

Our time together will come soon,

Maybe next time beneath the moon.

I know that he is the one,

Whether beneath the moon or the sun.

He owns my soul and warms my heart,

And he has right from the start.

The Hero

Evil spread, the land grew dark.

Good was absent, there was no spark.

Demons and monsters ruled it all.

Empires crumbled, kingdoms did fall.

A hero rose from out of the night.

Into the dark he brought the fight.

Sword and shield, he fought the horde.

Demons and monsters, their black blood poured.

The hero grew weary, but his strength never waned.

He kept on fighting, though his body was pained.

The people who saw him decided to fight.

Darkness began fading, the land growing bright.

Each town they encountered, their numbers grew fast.

The light’s power was growing, the dark’s time was past.

The hero and his army marched on through the night.

Evil was frightened, what had been dark was now light.

The army searched throughout all the caves.

Darkness was conquered, every troll, gnome and knave.

The lord of the darkness made his last stand.

The hero destroyed him and saved the land.
