The Spinning World

The world spins inside my head,

even faster when I’m in bed.

Never ever slowing down,

I sometimes feel like I may drown.

My greatest wish is for it to stop,

before my brain decides to pop.

I need just one night to sleep,

a sleep that’s comforting and so deep.

To wake refreshed is a dream of mine,

I want to be happy and feel fine.

Friday! Friday!

Friday! Friday! Where are you?

It’s only Monday and we are blue.

Mondays are just the worst!

Probably because they come first.

Friday! Friday! Are you there?

It’s Tuesday now and that’s not fair!

Tuesdays are just so bleak.

Still too early in the week.

Friday! Friday! We’re now halfway.

But the Wednesday camel is in the way.

Wednesday is not our friend.

But we are halfway to the end.

Friday! Friday! Please come here!

It’s Thursday now and we fear.

Thursday just moves so slow.

All because that we know.

Friday! Friday! You are here!

We can now finally cheer!

Saturday and Sunday are the best.

But Friday is better than the rest!

An Ode to Shoes

Shoes are lovely on your feet,

all colors and sizes, oh so neat!

They protect your heels and toes,

even when tied in crazy bows.

Shoes for running, walking or working,

sometimes shoes for dancing or twerking.

Shoes and sneakers and boots for hiking,

yes, even shoes for biking.

Black shoes, brown shoes, pink shoes, green,

Any color that can be seen.

Sneakers, boots, galoshes and heels,

any type that gives you feels.

Take care of your shoes and keep them neat,

Or you’ll end up with stinky feet!

A New Year’s Wish

The ball drops in Times Square,

Signaling New Year’s everywhere.

The party’s over, they turn off the light,

He walks me home and says goodnight.

Our New Year’s kiss still wet on my lips,

He turns to me and grabs my hips.

Soundly kissed down to my core,

I go inside, wanting more.

I drift off to sleep, dreaming happy things,

All the thoughts that true love brings.

I wake with the sun high in the sky,

I stretch and yawn and cover my eyes.

My thoughts return to last night,

And the guy who held me tight.

Thoughts of him cause a grin,

I feel happiness creeping in.

I make a wish that the feelings stay,

As I start my New Year’s Day.
